Very weak, very flat, broadly round growth with medium-sized, waxy, shiny, dark green foliage. Since this variety rarely grows higher than 30 cm and the shoots creep along the ground, older specimens or several specimens planted together look like a red carpet when they bloom. Flowers are bright, pure red, with darker veins and a slightly black edge. In winter the red-brown flower buds are very ornamental. Winter hardiness good. Early May to mid-May.
