Evergreen, prostrate shoots, leaves obovate to elliptical, 1.5 cm long, 1 cm wide, flowers in groups of 1 to 3, terminal, crown broadly funnel-shaped, 2.5 cm wide, purple-red. SE Tibet, in open areas, on rocks, up to 15 cm high. Very pretty, carpet-forming, alpine species. Flowers quite large compared to the plant. Valuable because of its late flowering. For rock gardens. Rh. keleticum differs from Rh. radicans, its closest relative, in its even flatter, horizontally creeping growth. Keleticum means “charming” and refers to the attractive character of the species. Winter hardiness good.
End of May to beginning of June.
