This very rare species comes from SE Tibet, Himalayas.
It is evergreen, has elongated elliptical leaves, 4-6 cm long and 2-3 cm wide. The underside of the leaves is covered in grey. In mid to late May, up to 7-8 bell-shaped, up to 4 cm wide, apricot-coloured flowers with purple veins appear. It is grateful for winter protection and a partially shaded location.
When it is 10 years old, it is 60 cm high and 70 cm wide, and the final size is around 200 cm high and 250 cm wide.
